Just a suggestion, the color of the car might be a big help in spotting it too

car is reccovered
This is the e-mail that Brett sent me.
The police recovered my car this evening. No exterior damage, the dash where the ignition WAS is a little messed up, the starter is burned up and they pried the gas cap off and messed up the gas tank tube. Could have been much worse. Wow would they steal a car for gas? Thanks everyone for your help. |

Glad they found it, my gut aches every time I read about somebody's car getting stolen.

Glad to hear it made it back safe.
Just a quick story, about stealing a car for gas: Back when it was new Dad used to drive our '65 GTO to work on occasion (second shift at Chevrolet Manufacturing in Flint). A couple times he noticed it was parked in a different spot, and with the gas all burned out of it. Upon further investigation, he noticed there were small pry marks on the stainless trim of the rear glass in the area of the front door (by the door lock). They are still there today if you look closely. The only thing we could figure is that someone had an ignition key that matched our car (but not the door key). We are guessing they would pry the door lock open, take it out for a joy ride, burn all the gas out of it and then bring it back. Sort of like in Ferris Bueller.... I guess I'm pretty luck it's still around. K

Glad the car was recovered intact! On a lighter note. Keiths story reminded me of my Junior year in Highschool. A friend had a tired old 70 or 71 Nova that the doors didn't lock. it so happened that my GTO Ignition key fit his ignition, since my lunch was the period before his, I made sure to go out and move his car to a different spot in the parking lot. this went on for a few weeks with little or no mention. the following week I moved it to a different parking lot on campus. this lasted about a week and he was frantic but obviously found his car after most everyone left for the day. He decided to fix the door locks and that ended the game (2 dr post cars are hard to get into quickly) He still doesn't know who moved his car some 20+ years later.

As I drive around, I can not tell you how many cars I see with the garage doors left open.
I know of 69 Z28, 69 GTO that the garage doors are left wide open at rush hour to let everyone in the world know what's in the garage. |
