how do I brace a 66 GTO convertible
my goat is a northern car and a beach car. I need to remove it off the frame to do some of the body work. how do I brace it and should I replace as much as possible before I take it off the frame. I know just enough about body work to be dangerous lol

Some will tack weld and some have used factory bolt holes.
You should run a brace front to back within the upper door jamb and left to right across at the center pillar. This is how the last two droptops at the shop were held before lifting. 1" square stock was used.

I agree. I use 1.5 box tube and run across the top of the door jams then I run 1 transverse to link the two.

thanks guys I thought that I needed more than that so I will add a couple of cross braces and give it a try. I started going through all the posts and it took me 2 evenings and I still had about 350+ more posts to go through and gave up! This car is real bad so Im going to give it a try again thanks
