Thanks to both of you for the kind words!

Wick, IIRC didn't you have a 70 TA roller you were selling a few years ago?

cdoggy81,
Looking good, How far have you gotten on mounting the seats?
Reason I asked is I am putting the same seats in my 72.
I got the fronts mounted and haven't looked to hard at the backs yet.
A heads up on the front seats. When you lower the seats low enough in the car to where they sit right the motors will hit the "rise" in the floor pan. I cut the factory brackets off the seats and welded new mounts on them and "massaged" the floor pan a little to get them to sit as low as possible and not hit. Had the same issues when I put the 2004 GTO seats in the 65. If you get to the back seats before I do, throw me your tips on what you did...Thanks

Bert

Wick,
I talked to you about it & almost did

Bert,
Sweet, another person to pull info from. PLEASE POST PICS I would really like to see what & how you did it. I have not mounted anything yet, still doing body work. Did a little bit of mock up just to see how it looks. My friend put them in his car so it can be done. Here is a pic. I need to PM you too.

That car was rough and I conveyed that to the person that bought it but he wanted it bad. And being from TX, when I say rough I mean rough.

Looking forward to see your progress on this car as I am thinking of something similar for me daughter as a first car.......but a little tamer motor. LOL

cdoggy,
I need to talk some pics. When you put the seats in the car you will see what I mean about them sitting to high.
I'm doing the tremec on it right now but it should be back on its feet by the weekend.
I'm just kinda trying to get this car up and running so we can use it some this summer and then do a frame off on it next winter.
Kinda "de-bubbaizing" it, if you know what I mean..

I need to start a thread of all the strange things I've found..

Bert

Life sure does get in the way of car projects.... yeesh....
That being said not much done but I did get PHS back on the Trans Am. It was a FL car sold by Moody Pontiac in Ft Lauderdale. Too bad they are no longer in business. I would have loved to driven down there for a pic!

Default Rear tail panel

Been following your project for some time . Good work keep it up as you are making progress and providing motivation for those of us with similar problems.

How did the trunk pan turn out?

I am wondering if you are using, going to use or wish to sell the upper part of the rear tail panel that you bought. From your pics it looks as though you only used the lower 1/2 of the tail light area. I have the identical problems as your car but the upper flange area of the taillights of my car are rusted through and it is a hard area to replicate/make . Are you willing to sell me whats left or just the flanged areas of the upper taillights if they are usable or did you not use them becouse they were too far gone? from the pics they look usable. Thanks.

Thanks for the word of encouragement
As for the tail panel the upper part was rusted out EVEN THOUGH FAB. FBIRDS said it was perfect.... Sorry dogs... Good luck in your search for a good piece of metal as this is a tough part for these cars.

Thought I would give this a little update even though I don't have a lot of "progress" to report on A BIG factor in this was that in October I took a transfer out of the ville down to Lakeland. Sux b/c I can't work on my projects when I come home from work. As you can see I'm almost done with the bike as I really want to get back on the car soon... she looks so sad just sitting there getting no love. On a positive note for my Christmas gift to myself, I signed up for one of Ron Covell's metal working classes in January. Had no idea who he was or what he did but Bryan Fuller (of fuller Hot Rods) talked me into it while talking bikes at the PRI show (go figure right?). So I talked my 2 friends into making a guys trip to ATL out of it Anyway I hope to post some real car stuff soon & I hope everyone had a great holiday!!!

I thought I would post a quick update. I mean it's only been 8 months so why not right... On a positive note, yesterday was a good day as I sold my bike. That equals one less distraction out of the way of the car. Plus this Friday, I am moving to St Pete. The past year really sucked as I was living/working/playing in 3 different houses in 3 different cities... Now I got it down to 2 means less driving & more time for the car. I do hope to bring the car down during the holidays & really start back up on it then as I have a few weeks off. Watching those 2 72 TA's come alive here lately really gave me the itch again...
