Default Nordic Silver?

My 71 was originally Nordic Silver, It was repainted white when I bought it so I couldn't get a idea of what the color looked like. I've seen pics on this site, but I had 1 question. Is it more of a solid color or more of a metallic? deciding on SS or B/C. I've read that metallics are a little more difficult to paint.

Here is one that was at the GTOAA/POCI Co-Vention in Dayton this past summer. Beautiful color - but seems to me that it was more of a solid than a metallic.

Thanks, trying to see if single stage was the way to go, or if it was really metalic-BC/CC

Default ultimategto.com

There are pics on ultimategto.com that show nordic silver being much darker.

See if this link works:

I wonder if the picture on Ultimate GTO is that Bluestone Gray special order color that was available in 71 (anybody ever seen one or have pics?). DrDoug has a Nordic Silver 71 Judge he is restoring that was found in a barn, and it looks to be the same color as the photo I posted above from the Co-Vention. I'll see if I can post up a link to that thread.

Edit: Here is the link to DrDoug's thread. Lots of pictures beginning with post #24/25 on page 2.

Is Nordic silver and Palladium silver the same color?

Thanks,

Silvers are the same. Only different names for different years.

I will look at the T-37 when I get home but IF memory serves me correct there is a metalic in it. I know they all fade quickly if not clear coated. I still have the color on the door frames as when it was painted black they did not do the door jambs.

I won't be home until at least Tue.

1970 Palladium Silver and 1971 Nordic Silver are not the same, but they are close. You would likely need them side by side to tell them apart.

To compare I looked at my PPG paint mix formulas. 1970 Palladium is DAR2059 and 1971 Nordic is DAR2327. The differnece in the mix is this: Palladium requires just a little Yellow in it, and has slightly more blue than Nordic. Nordic requires just a little green, and more black than Palladium. The actual paint chips look the same until you put them side by side, then you can see a slight difference.

To answer the original question though, both definately have some poly (metalic) in them.
