Default 1970 RAIV GTO, M21, 4.33, Mecum, Indianapolis

Fellas -

Time to sell my pride and joy. Being auctioned at Mecum, Indy on Friday, May 16. Since it's an auction, I don't have a sale price, but they are valuing the car at $90 - $120k.

Details below and here - http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_de...=&startRow=141

One of only 326 equipped with both the Ram Air IV engine and Muncie M21 close-ratio four-speed transmission, this 1970 Pontiac GTO hardtop shows just 10 miles after a fully documented no-expense-spared nut-and-bolt frame-off restoration. The current owner purchased it in 2007 from the same small town in Indiana where it was sold new in 1970. It was restored by well-known Pontiac specialist and GTO Association of America Judge Darrell Davidson of Supercar Creations, who completed it in 2013. The body was completely stripped and fit and finish brought to better than new before receiving correct Pepper Green BASF Glasurit base-coat/clear-coat paint. The frame was also stripped and the chassis components were replaced and refinished in the correct original factory finishes. The Ram Air IV engine was rebuilt to Pure Stock drag specs by the nation’s top Pontiac engine builder and the M21 rebuilt with M22 internals; a 4.33:1 rear end completes the drivetrain. Restoring the interior included installing new wiring and refreshing all instrumentation to factory original specs. All NOS, original and OEM parts, with correct numbers and dates, were used in the restoration. Every detail is correct, right down to the T-3 headlamps, the NL stamped Ram Air IV specific valve cover bolts and the "tennis ball" shift knob atop the Hurst shifter. It has scored numerous prestigious awards including Best Concours Restored at the 2013 GTO Association of America Nationals, winning out over more than 90 Concours restored GTOs. It was also invited to the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in 2013, where it scored an amazing 997 of 1,000 points. Documentation includes a detailed photo album of the restoration, PHS paperwork and copies of all awards.

PM if you have any questions.

Thanks

Scott

I should be there on Thursday and Friday. Maybe Saturday. Feel free to give me a call. My cell # will be listed on an info paper inside the car.

Good luck, looks great, and I will also endorse Darrell’s work.

This 70 also has one of the very few die cut, correct “sparkle”
RA foams made

Thanks, Brian. Lots of little details like this on the car and lots of parts on the car from PY members.

I have seen this car and it is sweet. Color might hurt price.

I love this color combo. I would way rather have this than an orange Judge

Yep. Green is the new black (or orange).

Thanks,

Scott

Color change never crossed my mind. Too many red, black, and orange GTO's out there. If it hurts the value, I'm ok with that.

Think the black raIV sold at 77k. Looks like trend is swinging to the trans ams. The 2gens are bringing big $$$.

Yep. No sale at $79k. Headed to a reputable musclecar dealer in the Midwest.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott, I really don't mean to upset you but like I said before, Please put the car back to the way it was built. These cars are so rare that they really should stay as original as possible. The bench seat and radio delete are hurting it big time. Put the buckets, radio and 8 track player back in..I t is more desirable that way. I'm just trying to help.

I'm surprised it didn't sell in the bid goes on. I heard they made a lot of deals after the cars went off the block.

Don,

You're killing me, man. It's not like I painted it Hemi orange and put a small block shivverlay and 22's on it...

Easy enough for the new owner to change if he wants to.

FYI - pending a full feature article in Muscle Car Review - they love the car because of the options, or lack thereof.

Scott

Your selected taste will not hurt that car. Its the ra IV that will sell the car. I would trade all 3 of my cars for a ram air IV.
