Default JW rims on ebay

Theres's a pair of JW rimes coded for April of 70 on ebay right now (7/18) . Search JW pontiac rally. Price is too high for two, in today's market. Even at their peak, you'd get $300-$400 ea. on ebay. Not anymore.

I listed erroneously that there were 4 -- my bad. Others have commented on this, but for some reason I can't find that first post to correct it.

Must have been desperate. Hope they realized it was only a pair.

No offense FS, but IMO $400 to $500 each is still a fair price for JW's, as long as they're in good shape with no serious rust or fouled up lug holes.

My .02

Still an aberration. Most people won't pay that much for them. I paid $380 for one I really needed at the economic peak, when they were going for around $300. I had to outbid a fellow PYer, then sold him a spare for $300. I just purchased two more for just over $200 for the pair.

At the Economic peak (2006 ) a match dated set of JW's needing to be blasted and painted sold on E-Bay for a whopping $3300.00.FWIW I have another pair of April 10th 1970 dated JW's for sale that I plan on taking to Norwalk,Ohio to seel in the swap meet.

Based on this sale, but not generally. This debate will go round and round. $500 is the high end. Average is more like $300.

I'll buy every one you have or can find at $300 - especially the April and May dated ones.

If I had any Apr.-Mays. I'd trade with you for Jan.-Febs.

I sold one of my best Pontiac friends four really nice KR's for $1200, but I considered that a buddy deal!

Three of them I'd already had blasted and painted.

It's nice to help each other out. Unfortunately, some guys hoard parts and pretend like they're made of gold. They'll never use them, but they won't give someone who needs them a deal.

Life's too short. We came with nothing. We leave with nothing.

X2! Well said.

My friend needed them for his '72 T/A, and as I have now sold all my cars that I could have used them on I had no more use for them.

Counting blasting and painting I had more in them than I sold them for, but that's OK. I almost always buy high and sell low anyway, LOL!

Default I hear that

I traded a set of non-matching JWs already nicely painted and BFGs mounted with at least 75% tread for a set of 4 matching KRs, nice but needing blasting, repaint and had no tires. I was after the date codes, though, so was willing to make concessions. The wheels/tires I traded are in my avatar picture.

Edit: The trade also included some under dash ducting and some bolts that I needed and overall I was quite happy.

The Green Hornet is STILL waiting patiently for it's NEW JW's T/A's,etc.

Hopefully later this summer I will get a chance to put them on & go for a drive.

(It's been almost TWO years!)

I remember Don Keefe had a nice article on this topic a couple years ago in Smoke Signals. Don convinced me it was time to go through my NOS stuff and sell what I would more than likely never use.

Yet to run across any KR's produced in Fall of '71. On Fall of '71 into early winter original built '72 cars, I've run across several original matching sets of 12/30/70's, 5/29/71, & 7/7/71 dated KR's. Over the years, have had complete sets of all, along with one original dated mixed set of three 12/30's & two 12/29's. Have an extra 7/7/71 KR I'd let go, will ck with friend that recently picked up a KR see what it is. My only other extra KR's are late Feb & one 3/25/72?

Why did you split the set? Or were they dated pairs?

Too bad they aren't May's - a buddy of yours is looking for some to complete a set he needs.

I've got a set (4) of January dated JW's I'd gladly trade for May's - even have Polyglass GT's on them!
