Two Looks; Which Do You Like?
Trying to decide which look to run with. The tires in the first pic are about 30 years old, so running them is not an option. But the whitewall-hubcap look is kind of retro-neat. If I go the hubcap route it would be with redlines most likely:
Then there's the old standby Cragar SS look with white letters. These tires are fairly new, so running this look for a while might make economic sense. But the Cragars and redlines sure would look sweet. I've tried to be really faithful to keeping this car "all 1964" although I know I've made some mistakes along the way that will be pointed out to me from time to time. The idea was not to build a show winner, but to build a car that would be very close to what I would've gotten if I could have walked into the showroom back then and driven one home. That really is a dream considering I wasn't old enough to drive in 1964, but had reached the age where all my buddies and I talked about, along with girls, of course, was cars and sports.

Cragers to me look period correct hot! Just enough to look sharp without overdoing it. So I vote cragers and raised white letters. With the light blue it kinda looks California beach area era.

My vote goes for the white walls & spinner hub caps. Red lines would be sharp too but if somebody has the thin white line tires that may be the deal!

Of the two options provided, I select spinners and some tire. However, because almost every '64 GTO that you see today is wearing hubcaps of the spinner style, I might be tempted to go redline with standard hubcap (not poverty cap)
I like it so much that I decided to run it on ole blue. As you might remember, this is a 70,000 mile car that hasn't been restored, so it still retains it's rear rake factory stance. BTW. Many thanks for the boot cover. I've gotten it down to point that installation takes less than 5 minutes. I fussed with the corners for months. Like a dress shirt collar without the tabs, I couldn't get them to lay flat. I left weights on them for weeks at a time, and in the sun, but no luck. Finally I cheated and used a 2"x2" Velcro square in each corner. That works perfectly and is invisible with no damage. |

Spinners and whitewalls, no redlines.
Cragars look out of place, same for white letter tires. |

The spinners give the old school vibe
The Cragars give more of a muscle car vibe I vote spinners. |

Spinners. They look ok with the whites - but I like the reds. The spinners and the redlines were the "hot" setup in '64!

YES on the Whitewalls and spinners, Your car is to beautiful and period correct. White lettered tires didn't show up until around 1968. "just sayin"

Cragar S/S wheels were introduced in 1964, so they are period correct if you like the way they look, but as mentioned raised white letter tires weren't popular until later. Personally, on a convertible I think the spinners and whitewalls are the best choice.

Nice car!
I've never really liked Cragars, but I think anything looks better than the full wheel covers.

Can I vote for both? When you said whitewalls I was predetermined that I would not like that look, but on that car, it looks good!
