65 tail light sockets
Has anyone seen a tail light socket like this? It came out of a unrestored 65 GTO with a unmolested rear lighting harness. If it helps the car has a build date 12C on the cowl tag. Note how the socket end extends farther into the housing than a conventional socket. I searched the parts for sale and checked all the Pontiac suppliers with no results. Just want to know if these are factory sockets and if anyone has a pair they are willing to part with. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

I’ve never seen tail light sockets like yours.
Here are the black plastic factory sockets on my Unrestored Survivor ‘65 (11A, BAL).

Factory test rig to make bulb appear brighter/closer to lens? Short on parts on the line and they pulled one intended for a different vehicle?
Or just an owner swap for unknown reason? |

I'm with Chris....have never seen those in over 40 years of poking around early GTO's. In addition, the placement of the bulbs on these extended sockets IMO would tend to make the plastic lens of the tail lamp too hot and possibly cause damage.
