1972 pontiac lemans

I was a 17 year old woman back in 1990 or so..

I was buying my first car, I had no idea what I wanted.

Low and behold I cam a cross a 1972 pontiac lemans in metallic silver paint with a new vinyal top.

I was blow away.

Being a bit manic I bought the car before I even knew if it started or not -thank god it did....

1,500.00 dollars later I drove away -it can be seen here:

anyway

My drunk buddy smashed into my beloved lemans and it was totalled.

i was heart Broken.

and car less.

ANYWAY

forward to April 2005

Financal and health problems (manic depressive illness and panic attacks) got in the way of getting a new lemans, or even a GTO, in fact.

however:

I used my whole college loan to buy this 1971 Lemans GT-37

I own a 2001 Grand AM also.

Anyway, I drive the grand am as I restore my beloved lemans.

I will post pics after I get it painted

(along with before and after pics)

Its gona look KICK ASS when Im done.

(and my college loans are drained...LMAO)

Thanks for reading!!!

Thanks Brandi,
Yes I took all the wheel well molding off & the long rocker chrome. It also had the Chrome with rubber center all the way down the body sides in the middle. I took it all off and welded all the holes shut to give it a smooth look. I might shave the door handles off too in the near future.

The wheels are rally II's, I just blasted them clean then painted them to match. The silver spoke part has 4 different colors of pearl in the shimmers different colors like the phantom flames on the hood & sides. I used the colors like the judge stripes would be. red, blue, violet&pink.

Here is a pic of the Wheel. still hard to see all the color that shimmers in them in a pic.

I just noticed that you dont have the long, chrome side panels that go under the doors and fender and up to the back wheel?

Ive not seen a lemans like that.

It gives the body more of a cool curve

did you do this intentionally?

My first "car" was a 1964 Chevy 3/4 ton pick-up, 4-spd w/compound low 1st, and a HOT little old Corvette 283, cammel hump 1.94 heads, 60 over, cam came on from 3,000-7,000rpm. It was black and white (black body, white top, white strip in trim), chrome trim, chrome spoke wheels w/60 series polyglass radials, and I drove the living chit out of it! I sure wish I still had it. I have no idea what happend to it over the years.

P.S. You were 17 in 1990! KID!

77 Formula 350/auto blue/blue

Blew the motor the first day I had it racing a Porche 911 down I-91.

Two weeks later it had the 400 out of my next door neighbor's wreaked 69 GTO in it.....would have beat the Porche with that one!

1972 Ford Capri ($120.00). What a prize. I think even Chip Foose would have turned that one down. Hey Brandi, is that your Strat in the car picture? What's the one on the hood, a Jackson?

Default My first car was a 61 Olds F85

That had a all 215 aluminum V-8. It was 4 door sedan with the "slim jim" hydramatic 3 speed trans. In maybe 2000 mile I replaced that trans 3 times, worst transmission of all time in my opinion. I did try to pass a guy in a pick up truck on the way to high school and he nailed it so what other choice did a 16 yr old have? I passed the guy at 110mph, when we reached the light the guy couldn't believe he was Blown away by a 4 door granny car. Best moment of my life at that point.

'74 Malibu, with the police package. My dad special ordered it for my mom to drive. 454, turbo 400 auto, 3.42 posi, 8" Corvette Rally wheels with Goodyear Police Pursuit tires on it.

She drove it four years and then I got it after that.

Then:

Now:

This season will be my 30th year racing this same car.
