When I stand on the throttle while in 3rd, I'm not getting the 3-to-2 downshift
with wide open throttle. Shouldn't the transmission downshift into 2nd and then back up to 3rd? Where do I start looking first? Kickdown trans solenoid? Dan

Lloyd,
I had several issues impacting my trans downshift. First, as you suspected, the downshift bracket was out of position thus negatively effecting downshift activation. Also, my floormats, along with new carpeting/jute padding and thermal/noise insulation was not allowing the gas pedal to be depressed enough to activate the switch. So, needless to say, I'm going to be doing some work in that area to tune the condition out of existence. Thanks!

Dan:
I've owned a dozen TH400 equipped Pontiacs in the past and the usual culprit on my cars was that the switch bracket at the accelerator pedal was bent back. This caused the switch "button" not to be pushed back far enough to make contact. Therefor - no power to the downshift soleniod in the trans. Hope this helps, Lloyd
