"5th" Splash Shield
I found this picture of the infamous 5th splash shield on a Camaro site. My repro shield kit has one of the these pieces but I have read somewhere, I can't remember if it was a Firebird or Camaro site, that showed the two-holed mounting brackets for both sides.
Anybody seen them installed on both fenders?

This is related, I believe...
The splash shield on the RH side of the radiator support has a 1" hole and slit. It's as though a hose or line is supposed to go there. However, it's too low to accommodate the AC hoses. Anybody know this one?

The 69 firebird assembly drawing 9796500 clearly shows that there is no 5th splash on a 69 bird.
Additionally, the same drawing shows two splash shields mounted to the rear inner fender supports. These splash shield are a completely different shape than those used on the camaro. The firebird shields are simple square pieces and have no fancy shapes or cutouts. Oh and the plastic disk looking front radiator air baffle retainer shown in the picture aboe is incorrect for a 69 bird. It should be a formed steel flat spring style clip. I don't know what the hole is for as my originals do not have this hole.

Interesting... Somewhere, during my brief search on this shield, I found a pic of a left and right side of some shields with brackets for a Firebird, I believe. This corresponds to the drawings and the pictures you have. I guess I'll just have to keep this in mind if I ever tear into the car in the future.
I already fabricated the bracket and clip for the fancy driver's side shield. But, it's too late now! The car is assembled. BTW, where do I get these assembly drawings? In the Camaro world they call them AIM's. (Assembly Instruction Manual) Also, that round clip is all I could find to attach the front shields. They work pretty good.
