Sure would like to fool some people with a OHC Pontiac, what bell housing do they have? Same as a Chevy 250 six?

Has anyone used the newer Felpro "Graphtite" or whatever it is head gasket? I have some older Felpro head gaskets AND three OEM steel head gaskets. I would like to use the newer ones if they are better.

youll lose some compression and may encounter some pre detonation with the extra squish area.

So I should use the OE steel ones? Also, is it possible to have a copper head gasket made? I see that Butler will custom make them and if I sent them a Felpro as a template they should be able to cut them.

Thoughts?

The Felpro Full set is the ONLY set.
Runs about $130 and most auto parts will have to order it.

Stay away from the ABC crap on EPAY

I already have one of these sets, and I'm curious as to what the issue might be?

I may get ambitious and scan more of them so I can cut on my CAMM plotter.
If anyone wants a spare time project I need them saved in an AI or EPS format.
There was a gasket manufacturer about a mile from me,that I took samples of
to see about having made.
They said fine if I wanted to buy 1000+
Victor is the only one that made the intake/exhaust that was worth a damn
and those have dried up

I'm going to use it on my "throw together" engine, and so far from the looks of it, everything I need is there.

Thats not one of the ones I've seen, but they are priced matched to Felpro so I'll stick with FP.
I bought a set a few years back opened it up looked at it and then threw it in the trash.
I'll see if I have the invoice, the set was a POS.

If you are looking into BEST see if you can find a local dealer you may get a better price,
they are not avail in stores.

I agree dont cheap out on gaskets
if you want to save money look elsewhere so you dont have to teardown a motor for a $.50 gasket that failed.
Someone on the Cammer forum was having teflon cam cover and side drive gaskets made so they could be reused.
Dont remember who it was tho,but they werent cheap

Jeff and Cammer-6 are right on the money, don't go cheap on the gaskets. How frustrated are you going to be when a gasket fails and you have to tear your motor apart to replace a gasket.
Regarding the teflon gaskets, I have been told that when torqued the material tends to migrate resulting in loss of torque and possible leaks. I purchased a set for the accessory drive. They look nice, but I never used them.

Well I guess I'll see how that E-bay set does. Looking over the individual pieces in the set nothing sets off any red flags with me. I'm not a pro-engine builder, but I've assembled a few engines and have used Fel-pro and non-Fel-pro stuff in my Buick's. One set of "some brand" head gaskets I got for the Buick I didn't really like the looks of, and eventually blew into the lifter valley, but I think there were other factors involved in that failure (racing, detonation, possible damage prior to installation..), but felpro's went back in. I'm not getting the same iffy feeling on this OHC head gasket as I did with the odd brand Buick one I used.
