Default New member; 70 gto used in dazed and confused

Not sure how I missed this forum, as it looks like a great source for the Pontiac enthusiast! I've owned my gto since 97... It was originally just a plain jane 400 350hp 4 speed car -- it was painted orbit orange with judge stripes in 92 and was used as the 2nd car in "dazed and confused".

It currently has a 70 455 with #13 heads and an m-21. Over the past 10 years the car has been repainted, new vinyl top, new interior, rebuilt front suspension and so on.... It runs ok on today's gasoline -- working on a more suitable drive-train for modern fuel. Even when gas was still gas it would tend to ping on hot summer days. (It does have forged pistons and has held up well). I have a 73 455 with 6x heads sitting on my engine stand -- I may swap that in and see how it does.

Back in the late 90's I drove the car roundtrip from NC - AZ two different times! As of lately it's spent a good bit of time in the garage but I'm planning on driving it a lot more this year.

Looks like a great forum; looking forward to contributing...

Thanks, will do... Already burning up the page. I've been a member of the gtoforum (lurk mostly), had no idea there was an even larger site to discuss pontiacs.

I've always liked Orbit Orange the best, of 1970 colors, but I never saw one with a vinyl top. That black top really looks good with the OO.

Nice car - and I came here to post that quote... although I was going to go with the part about getting older.

I like the black vinyl and black sidewalls. I think it tones down the OO which I'm not a huge fan of. Sharp looking car.

Welcome and nice 70. Hope you bring it to Mocksville when the cruise-ins start again in April or drop me a pm and bring it by the house sometime.

Dozens of threads, posts or references on PY to the Dazed and Confused car.

Here is one from 2005 where someone posts about two cars being used. A few dozen members on here historically prove to have a well rounded knowledge of Pontiacs, most everything else (like anywhere on the internet or 90%) is suspect.....

PS: you can do a "Search" using words: Dazed and Confused

So cool! Love it! I lived that movie in high school. You should have seen the Summers here especially when Water Follies came around and 100,000 people rolled into the Tri-Cities for the biggest part on earth! Woohoo!

I love the story and the history. Did any provenance come with it?
