Default Driver side mirror

I purchased an all original Tiger Gold 1965 GTO from the original owner a while back and just now getting the time to work on it. I just noticed today that it does not have a driver outside mirror and does not appear to ever had one on it. The paint on the car appears to be 100% original and never been wrecked. I looked behind the door skin where it would have been mounted and there were no holes that were filled. Has anyone ever heard of this? Thanks in advance

The mirror was an option, not standard equipment.

Looks like the original owner didn't check off that option on the order form.

Do you still have the original pinstripes on the car? Could we see some pictures on the pinstipe if so?

The mirror was an option.

x3 - was an option in 64 and 65

On a 65 GTO
option 444 was the driver remote mirror = about $12
option 602 was the driver side manual mirror = about $4

If one wasn't ordered , nothing would be there.

Do you have the original window sticker or PHS or Build Sheet ?

Default outside mirror

Ok thanks guys I didn't realize that. All the GTO's I ever had have always had the outside mirror. I am posting some pictures of the pinstripes and yes I do have the PHS for it. It is an original Tiger Gold with black vinyl top 3x2 4 speed. I purchased it out of a second level of a barn in Ohio and had been sitting there sense the late 70's.

What 60'sstuff said: PICS!!! My '65 has a date-coded manual side mirror, but it was put there later. It wasn't born with an outside mirror, or seatbelts, either. But with tripower and 4 speed, who needs that stuff anyway!!! LOL...........

Talking

I am posting some pics of the PHS and data plate. Yes it has the original motor and trans and all the accessories are original too. It does have some rust issues but not to bad. I need to replace the trunk floor and put on some lower quarter patch panels. It also has a little rust near the seat belt mounting points but otherwise looks pretty good.

Here are some pics of the motor. Note the XX on the firewall for the special paint code.

I am surprised PHS does not know what the code #2 paint is, but you do, and we all know now.

Code 2 is just special paint character in 65 (and some other years).
Like on the 65 Jolly Green Giant, etc ..
If he had told them it was original paint gold and had 97904 on trim tag - they probably would have noted it was Tiger Gold
