Craig Hendrickson, one of the founders of H-O racing specialties, will be my special guest at the 20th annual Pontiac Heaven weekend. H-O did so much for the Pontiac hobby. Here is your opportunity to meet Craig and speak with him about the days at H-O.

That is great news! February works for Mark and I, and I'll get the word out to the rest of our group. The previous tentative date wasn't working out well for us. Excellent!

We'll plan to attend in Feb then. Providing it's not snowing up here, lol. But chances are usually good by then that the weather will be okay.

Should be nice racing weather in Phoenix that time of year though, in the 70's and near sea level DA numbers.

Good news to hear! As long as it is related to the Pontiac V8 engine, it is welcome. Only real Pontiac V8 power can participate.
We also welcome the '61-3 Tempest 4, mid 60s OHC 6s, pre '55 flatheads and , of course, the IAs and MR-1s.

As soon as the new year gets underway I will begin to get ready for February. I haven't been out with my Tempest since last May, so I have some work to do. The weather and density altitude should be great and I'm hoping at the very least to better my 7.81.

The host hotel is five minutes from the track and a nice place to stay. Looking forward to it!!

Jim

More things have been added to the Pontiac Heaven weekend schedule including many more classes for Saturdays nostalgia show, There will be 3 additional index classes for 81/older door cars and 3 added for center steered cars ( slingshots, altereds, etc ). Now working on a quick 8 hot class as well for Saturday that will have a pot of over $2,000! The hot A/FX class for 61-9 door cars already has a pot of over $1,300 as well.

Gates will open Friday morning at 9am for a casual swap meet set up, pit parking and arranging. The track will go hot at 2pm for Pontiac power and nostalgia entries only. That will run until 6pm and I let in everyone for Friday night Drags which run until around 11 pm

For Sunday, I am adding a round table discussion focused on Pontiac V8 power and related- Some of our speakers will be- Frank Gostyla of AllPontiac.com covering some of what the aftermarket offers for Pontiac power fans, Chris Hall will be discussing how to improve your vintage Pontiac powered vehicles handling and braking ( as well as running our autocross ), Craig Hendrickson, co founder of H-O racing, will cover much of the progress made in the 70s with Pontiac power and I will be covering subjects like- the Pontiac Heaven Museum, daily driving your vintage Pontiac for reliability, the M/T HEMI Pontiac and more.

We still have some rooms avail at discounted rates at our nice host hotel. Come and enjoy Phoenix next month! Info on the fliers posted in prior posts. Keep current on the Pontiac Heaven Face Book page- www.facebook.com/PontiacHeaven

Another special display at this years Pontiac Heaven weekend is a Real vintage Pontiac power Top Fuel Dragster from the 1962-4 time period. To top that off, the chassis builder and driver, Dean Turk, will also be my guest! This pic of a press release from summer of 1963 at the ground breaking ceremony for Beeline Dragway outside of Phoenix. Dean Turk is also in the pic! I have located this original car and much of the restoration has been done. It will be on display Feb 16-18 with Dean Turk and Dave Keyes who helped with the Resto!
This car is part of the Pontiac Heaven Museum project here in Arizona. All proceeds from this event weekend will go towards getting the musuem building erected and then I can start finishing many of the restorations already started. Your support is needed and appreciated! thanks

I'd like to thank everyone who attended and made the 20th annual Pontiac Heaven a success! Wow, 20 years of promoting the use and knowledge of the Pontiac V8 engine. Everyone I talked to had a good time. People came from all over, i met Pontiac fans from as far away as Maine, Michigan, South Dakota, IL, Ks, Mt, Ca, Nv, Co, one from Canada and lost count of the others.
Thanks also to my volunteer staff that helped make it happen.
3 days of parts swap, 3 days and one night of drag racing, 2 days of car shows, 1 day of autocross, classic salvage yard tours, special guest Craig Hendrickson and the weather! We had highs each day of around 75 and our lows were around 50. Could not have asked for nicer conditions.
thanks to all my sponsors who support Pontiac Heaven events.. More pics and event info here- www.facebook.com/PontiacHeaven
