It looks a lot like a 61 Dodge, but I don't remember the tail fin starting at the back door. I thought the fin started after the door.

The photo John V posted shows the fin starting just behind the rear door.
Maybe the difference between a '60 and '61 ?
Or possibly between models?

Change my vote to '60 dodge...1959-1960 had some of the worst 'styling" ever.....the 1960 Fords as an example.....'59 chevy, '60 not as bad.....Dodge was the worst....the front end of that thing looked horrendous.

X3. Couple different trim levels in the Dart series in '61 but does look most likely the Seneca. Widely criticized styling when new. Taillights so bad at mid year Dodge offered a dealer kit to add some taillights that weren't much better.

My dad bought a '60 Dart from a co-worker who had nothing but trouble with it, a lemon. It was about a year old, a nicer car than the 6-8 yo beaters dad had previously. But apparently it had been sorted out, dad never had a problem with it. I was young but remember it as a pretty nice car. It was metallic green. I think was a Seneca, may have been 2 dr. '60 was not near as ugly tho. He traded it in after a few years on a sporty slightly used '63 Dart which was a much smaller car.

In taking a second look, I'm not sure what's going on.

The car in the junk yard appears to be a 4-door in the original pictures, but there is no rear door handle. In the photo John V posted, the fin starts about six inches into the rear door. This is what I remember because one of our neighbors had one, and I remember the fin starting after the door. I looked up photos of 1960, 1961, and 1962 Dodges and couldn't find any with the fin starting in the door.

Does anybody have any idea what's going on with the rear doors?

Mike

It's been mildly customized, the fender to rocker panel gap is AWOL.

LOL Senebon, it looked like someones project and maybe they lost interest. All the trim was in the trunk along with the rear door handles that had been shaved off. This would have made a good poor mans batmobile. That is why I love junkyards you never know what you are going to see. I have never seen a Dart like this running the streets. To bad whomever started this was not able to finish it and get it on the road.
