The 06B code manual-trans 389 was a 303 HP 4-barrel version with 10.25:1 compression, a 4-barrel carb and the 529472 cam - 273/282 duration, .406"/.406" lift (same profile as the later 9779066 cam).

Thanks, I was aware of the 06B spec. but I never heard it referred to as a "Police Special".

Very well could have been the standard equipment engine for Police cars.
Perhaps that 'Police Special' notation would automatically appear on the build sheet when the high-compression 4-barrel 389 engine was chosen.
