Help identify external regualtor for a new engine harness

Help!

I am ordering a new engine harness for my 67 GTO project from Ames.

I have a 1976 Trans Am Engine in my car.

So, I have a HEI distributor.

Ames needs to know if I have a internal or external regulator.

I assume its internal .

I know, I know, its the wrong engine for the car. But I want to get it back on the road this summer.

Advice welcome.
