Bandit gets some new wheels
I drove down to year one on Friday and picked up a set of gold 17" snowflakes for the 77. Getting tires tomorrow, I'll post pics as soon as I get them on the car.

What size tires did you decide to go with?

245/40 in the front and a 275/40 in the rear. I hope it looks right

Went 275 all around. 245s looked too small.

I'm waiting on the caps and lugnuts. I couldn't spend the amount year one wanted. Yikes

After buying those rims and spending another $400 or so on tires, what's another $85 for caps and lug nuts?

Their lug nuts are $95 for 20 and the caps are $179 for 4. I just bought the caps and nuts for $111 shipped for everything.

Sounds good. I assume your car is lowered. Otherwise, you will see a lot of air above those 275 -40 tires

Yeah, the car is lowered in the front. I'm hoping it has a rake to it. I was getting ready to order new springs for the rear but I need to see how the car sits in the back before I do. It has 245 40 18s on it now in the front and there isn't much room between tires and fenders. The 275 40 17s are actually taller so in theory there should be even less room now. I'm sorta worried about scrubbing. The 245 40 17s looked tiny.

OK that's pretty bad-ass
I wonder how they'd look on a Nocturne Blue 79 do the stock brakes look tiny? or are they not stock

Stock brakes for now. I'm going to change out all the suspension first then brakes. They look fine really. I had those five spokes on it before that showed everything so to me these kind of hide stuff.

Backspacing?
Nice 2nd Gen Ride Joe!
So; now that you have the Wheels & Tires installed what would you have installed on the rear instead of the 275/40/17s? Ideas? Your car has stock front disc and rear drum brakes-yes? Sounds like you got a deal on the Ctr Caps & Lugs...mind sharing where you picked them up? BTW - Where is your Bonniville - Joe!? |

Still has the stock front disc/rear drum set. I've got a new rear for it that I'm going to get a rear disc conversion for before it goes in. Not sure really what size tire I'd put back there. I need to do some more research. Still got my 66 bonneville. I need to pull the motor out and do a rebuild.

65 and 66 are my fave year Bonnies...still remember missing out on a 421 Trips 4spd Ragtop for $1,800 at a local auction back in the '80's. Burgundy with Black Top/Interior. I get the Dumb Ass! for that one too!. I'm just sayin' |

I kinda like the classic look of 15inch rims...but I must say that the 17's look great on your car... |
