You know when somebody keeps a Auto Trader ad from the 80s. They are determined to find it one day, lol.

Kind of weird that they painted the wheel opening moldings and birds green.

I am the temporary caretaker of this car. Car was a victim of a mediocre paint job in the early 80's as has already been pointed out. My '74 Formula was also a victim of a mediocre paint job during the same era. Seems to be a reoccurring theme! Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I believe the angle of the photo and the flash or lack there of make it difficult to distinguish clearly. The wheel opening molding is currently missing on the passenger side and the firebird emblem is not painted green. Just wanted to set the record straight.

Nice, 26 options plus original valance the car is very cool. Love the un-even side moldings too. Clean it up and leave it. Many happy miles. If possible show a pic of truck and rear of car. If it becomes available to purchase please feel free to contact.
Congrats on such a cool ride. Cheers and thanks for sharing. Brew |

These photos were supplied by the previous owner and were probably taken about 2005.

Back on the road I see.
What's the story that was forthcoming?

This car is pretty sweet. Even though this green is one of the better ones, even the ugliest green turns to gold (pun unintended) when paired with tan.
Reminds me of a car I saw around DC around 1992: gold 455 HO Formula, 4-speed, AC, even rear console. Dad wouldn't lend me $600 (what I needed to reach the asking price) so I missed out, but it ended up in NJ and eventually made the pages of HPP. Ever since, have had a soft spot for these. |

I thought I recognized this car! I considered buying it back in August 2016 when the previous owner decided to sell it. I should have bought it! Nice car, congrats!
Here are some pictures the previous owner sent me last year. BJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Plaza Pontiac was my local Pontiac dealership, about 5 miles from where I grew up. I would buy parts for my '73 Grand Prix there. Visited the showroom in 1977 to be stunned by a brand new Can Am on the floor. Now a Target store sits on the property. It was a large dealership with a great selection of cars.

There seem to be more than a few 71-72 Formula 455 HO that are well optioned, and are spoiler-less. To me it backs up that there was a market then for serious car minus all the spoiler hoopla as with TA, as these optioned Formula's cost as much as a TA, even more money than some low option TA's. And where most 70-73 people seem to like spoilers today, my memory from that era was more 60-50 opinion on them, many thought them odd. I like to see these cars stay spoiler free as they do represent a historic side of it.

Well, then the one who ordered mine was a rebel. Low option, handling package, rally, Am radio, console, 4-speed with spoiler in Sundance orange.
And to top it off no ac from California... But, I agree all spoilers off if not by Factory on phs...
