64-67 GTO Cooling Problems Solved!!
We all know our GTOs have a tendency to overheat or at least run hot all the time. Problem comes when the original non-AC owners put in bigger motors, install AC, etc...and only have room to fit a tiny 15.5" radiator. And worse yet, trying to find a usable AC radiator support could be harder than finding a needle in the middle of your backyard!
That problem is about to be solved... Cold Case is working on an support adapter kit that will allow your non-AC support to accept the taller 17.5" radiator. This solves the problem of either finding a new support OR having to settle for a smaller radiator. Combine that with our Super Duty kits with 1.25" tubes and you'll be running cool in no time. Prototypes are on their way to us so we will keep you updated with status and pictures. |

Eric, will this adapter kit be available with a stamped lower rail section or just the extended lower corners?
Many lower rails on used early Pontiac A-body core supports are in horrible shape & new lower rails have to be fabricated.

It will extend to the lower rail section where the original two pieces connected. You'll have to drill out the old welds and replace with this lower section. Basically, you end up with a legit AC core support when done. The only difference is that the lower mounting brackets will be our kit we made years ago instead of the factory welded one found on original AC supports. If that bugs someone, then they should be looking for a REAL ac support.

Well I ordered the HO radiator a while back to use in my car but had to get the 15 cause my car was a non AC Tempest. It caused me to have to have a 66-67 radiator hose cause the hose side is swapped but I don’t care about that. My question is on a streetable roller cammed 467 with AC is the two extra inches make it worth exchanging the radiator and getting the kit? I have the 1.25 fin radiator already but it’s a 15. I will have aftermarket AC

I can tell you that the tall radiator at 2" x 20" wide x 3" deep is a LOT more fluid.

Yes it is for 66 and 67. We think it will fit 1965 as well but have not tested it yet. All the usual dealers should be carrying this product but you can e-mail me if you are having trouble finding them. I'll get you taken care of.
chrisc@maxperformanceinc.com We will also have a full AC radiator support for those that don't want to do their own conversion. It should be available in June.

Did this ever get tested on earlier cars? I just acquired a 1964 Lemans convertible with a 6 cylinder and a bad radiator. I'm planning on a V8 swap and A/C in the future and want to put in the 17.5" radiator now. So, I'll need to convert my core support. |

I’ll order the conversion kit from one of the dealers you supply this to and see what has to be done for it to attach to the’64 core support. I’m not afraid of the cutoff wheel or the welder if it comes to that. Will report back. |

I ended up not doing the conversion on a 1964 core support. I found an a/c core support.
