Man have I gotten lazy. Mike is working an 80 hr schedule so he's not getting any time in helping me. So I've not got much done lately. I did pull out the kick panels and refinish them, install a new headlight switch, pulled out the 'ear muffs to reglue them to get the bubbles out' and got the instrument lights working. Now to get the wipers and horn working.
I also went today and ordered a new trailer. These guys are local to me and build a pretty good trailer. They are building me one with a removable drivers side fender and a spare tire rack and tire. It should be ready in about 10 days.

Not in Pa? Didn't know that.I thought you could with antique plates since antique plates don't require the state insp.I bought my brother a repro sticker for x-mas for his Road Runner.Guess he can't stick it on the windshield.

Here's the trailer they're building for me. 18' dovetail exactly like this pic except the driver's side fender will be removable and it will have a spare tire bracket and spare mounted on the front right side.

As far as I know, if you run a Classic/Collectible/Street Rod Plate, then you have to have the vehicle inspected annually. If you run an Antique or Historic plate, then no sticker can be on the windshield.

Can't wait to see it run. Hopefully you can put the camera in the passenger seat so we can all get a drive down the road. Once I get my front discs setup and get Mr. Gaydosh to put the tune on mine, I will try setting up a camera in the pass. seat and take everyone for a ride. Keep us posted. Mark

Like I told Ron in the PM, it's hard enough to hold the damn camera in one hand and hold my cane in the other. That leaves no hand free to 'blip' the throttle. Maybe when I get some help!

Mike finally got back to his regular schedule and was able to work on the car today. Got the interior back in. The flash in the pics make some of the interior look washed out, it is NOT. Probably start sanding and buffing tomorrow. Getting close now.

Here's Mike giving the 'Polarshine' treatment to it today. Tomorrow he will final machine polish it with Mequires #7 and then hand polish it with #7. Then we'll check out a few electrical gremlins and except for some final 'tuning' the project will be ready for show and maybe race season.

Looking good, make sure you post pics when the polishing is complete. The wet sand and polishing is what I have to do to mine yet to get the car to shine like yours.
I just can't believe there is another 65 GTO so close to mine, I thought they were all red, white, black or iris mist. Maybe I will run into you at a show one year, definitely want to see your car in person. Mark

Looks like rain here all weekend. As soon as we finish and the weather clears, I'll pull it out and get some nice outside pics. My plans are to have it at the CoVention in July.

Well, I just got a chance to pull it outside and snap a few pics. I left the parking lights on all weekend, so you can guess what, a dead battery. Anyway it's 99% done now, just a couple of small details to attend to. Plus I'm sure more things will pop up when I start driving it some.
Please give me your advise on whether you would letter it as the 'Teal Tiger' or leave it as is. The paint is very nice. With a 25k paint job being a 10, this paint is a 8.5 or 9.

Awesome car! I really like the day 2 or retro drag look or whatever you want to call it and I dream of having a car just like it someday!
As for the lettering...This might have been mentioned before but I believe you can get vinyl stickers that could be applied to look like they are painted on and they could be removed later and maybe not screw up the paint too much. If it was mine I would probably add the letters if they could be removed someday. |

the vynil lettering would not be period correct, though.
If you are going to letter it, it should be brush painted.

Agreed. If I do put any lettering on it, it will be brushed on, not vinyl.

With the technology these days I bet they can do a vinyl that looks brushed. That's what I'd do.
