Wire size for tail lights?
At the moment I am trying to restore my 68 LeMans' tail lights. Can anyone tell me, what wire size I will have to take?
Thanks Dan

These are normal wire sizes for trunk harnesses.
18AWG for tail lights, tag, side marker, back-up, etc.. 16AWG for turn/brake. |

That works out to 18ga = approximately 1.0 mm sq. or 1.3mm diameter, and 16 ga = approx. 1.5mm sq. and about 1.5 mm diameter.
Did a search on google for metric wire sizes. George

Thanks. We do not have AWG meisurements in Europe, but as far as I could find out, 18 AWG are equivalent to 0,8mm². So I will take 1mm².
George: just saw your message when posting this.

Reading the post again, I am wondering if there are two different wire sizes in the tail light harness. Are the wires for the brake light thicker than those for the lights? Or do I get something wrong here?

Yes, brake/turn is one size bigger than tail lights and rest or wires in trunk harness. I would recommend making ground wires the same size as brake/turn.
