Finish on fan spacer
I'm working on updating the cooling system on my '71 Norwood TA. The only piece that I'm not sure of the finish is the approximately 2.5" metal spacer between the water pump pulley and the fan. Car is a manual transmission car and does not have the fan clutch. Is this piece bare steel (Eastwood Detail Gray) or bare aluminum or cad or what??? I have seen no information on this piece. Thanks for any responses. Alan

It’s a aluminum casting and is natural ( no finish)

If you want to keep it looking nice with no corrosion over the years, hit it with a thin coat of clear engine enamel paint, Ive had excellent results with rustoleum brand engine clear, use it on all kinds of aluminum & bare steel parts under the hood.

Finish on fan bolts
Last question on this subject. What about the four bolts that secure the fan to the water pump? Repro stores offer what I think are just zinc bolts. Is this correct, or are they black oxide or phosphate coated?

As I suspected, the bolt are black oxide
I've had several persons all answer black oxide, which is what I suspected. Time to go bolt hunting. Appreciate all the answers!

iirc nuts on studs was only for clutch fans (a/c cars) - and those used no spacer;
The spacer was used on fixed (four blade) or flex (five blade) fans. another vote here for black oxide; they are a fine thread unlike the coarse threads used almost everywhere eles; you might be best off finding good bolts (be it used or repop) and hitting them with some flat or semi gloss black.
