BITE THE BULLET ?!?! personally, I would love to have a car that required a chute and chassis certification!

thus my phrase "do whatever i had to with the chassis". my ladder bar setup wasn't that expensive and is a huge improvement over the factory suspension.

Robert Johnson driving the Ponte Carlo has run a best of 9.18 seconds on stock suspension. Robert ran 9.50's on a 10 inch tire.

Mark - The cam specs are as follows:

Lazer cam #P-R302M/311R-04
Duration at 0.020", 302/311
Duration at 0.050", 270/276 (Much bigger than I was led to believe)
Lobe Lift 0.425"/0.427"
Lift w/1.5 rockers 0.637
LSA 104
Recommended LCL 100

Although it is larger than I was told, it is still smaller than I want. It will end up being available, but it might not be what you were looking for.

Along with the cam specs, I just got the specs on the E-Heads. Valves are 2.19/1.77 and max flow is 346/251 CFM at 0.700". The worst ports were 338/244 CFM.The heads were done by Dave Bisschop at SD Performance.

Put a glide in,with 3.90 gears in the rear and have some fun.I run 4.10 gears with a 32" tire and trap 6500 at 140mph.

I can only fit a 29" tire, so I plan to go with a 3.73 gear. The race weight of 3450 makes me worry about the reliabiltiy of a Powerglide.

I would make a few calls to some reputable trans guys. The glides of today will hold up fine.Just don't build it with old used parts and it will last.Plus your car will weigh only 3390 with a glide.
Good luck with your new engine. It sounds and looks like a nice piece.

jim- my car weighs 3700 with me in the seat. when i broke the TH400 tranny a few weeks ago my builder told me to go with a glide. i told him he was nuts because my car weighs too much for a glide. he told me that he could build me an indestructible 1.80 straight-cut gear powerglide for $900. i thought about it for a minute but decided to stay with the TH400 when i realized i'd need a 4.56 or 4.88 gear with the glide.

rumair,You should definately take him up on the glide offer. You can't even buy the 1.80 gearset for $900.Tell him to build me one and the check will be in the mail.I ran a 4.56 gear for a little while with my set-up.Great in the 1/8.4.30 works very well, but my car isn't as heavy as yours.
