These are basically the same as backing plates, brake cyl, shoes, & return spring pieces as used on many '73-77 A-bodys, esp A-body station wagons & the '74-75 GrandAms & '7-77 Police Enforcers that use the 8 7/8" MP series rear. For use parts, looking 20 bucks for loaded backing plates from the Pick-N-Pull.

Just need to buy new (correct diam) drums that are 4 3/4" bolt pattern. '65-70 Impallas used 4 3/4" bolt pattern large diam drums (will have to measure some & see if they are exact same diam). If not ck, ck drum listing at parts store for '71-72 Buick Sportwagon or Olds Vista Cruiser.

Anyone try the Master Power Brakes larger rear drums yet? They are listing the set at $370.

Here are a few points in their write up:

-Larger wheel cylinders provide 14% more pressure to the rear shoes.
-The shoe surface is increased 21 square inches.
-The ceramic shoes included have a drag coeficient of friction of .42 as compared to the usual parts store shoes of .25.

370+ shipping or...

Go to the Pick-N-Pull & grab some '73-77 A-body 11" backing plates & drums, then head to parts store & buy some new wheel cylinders & shoes... should be out no more than a hundred bucks, total. Want better shoes... Praise Dyno Brake has them.

BTW, the smoothie '61-70 Impalla drums will fit these 11" loaded backing plates, as well as the 17 lb '73-75 A-body wagon drums. Disregard my earlier comments on the '72 & earlier VistaCriser & Sportwagon drums...they are only wider, not 11" diam.

OPH, I printed your info and I'm going to see if I can pull some of these parts, when the snow melts.
