Havent been by much lately. Havent had the time or money for the real thing. But have been hanging around the diecast quite a bit. Member needs some Pontiac help, thought I'd post it here for advice...

All you Pontiac experts, and all other knowledgeble collectors. I used to own a 1972 Pontiac Lemans GT. This car came from the factory with a 400 cube engine, 4 speed tranny, full duel exhaust, 390 posi rear, etc. It was Yellow exterior with a white interior/black carpet. Car had a bench seat. Shifter had a nice factory angle to clear properly. Factory rear spoiler on the deck lid, and a unique stripe down both sides of the car--Stripe looked black in the daylight, but it had gold reflective sparkle which made it appear gold at night with headlights shining on it! I am planning on duplicating this car in 1/64th, was curious if anybody recalls seeing this option? Does anybody know how rare it was, and where would I find out more information on this Pontiac.
Thanks

It was an option on the LeMans V8. It featured the same options as the GT-37 of the previous 2 years except the hood pins(?). HD 3 speed w/floor shift, dual exhaust, chrome exhaust extensions, lh body color mirror, ralley II rims w/o trim ring, G70X14 rwl tires, stripes and badging. If you go to a couple of web sites as there are some pictures there.

Just go to the find at the top of the forum and type in LeMans GT and it will do the trick.

Happy reading and WELCOME BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Bob:

Just yesterday I scanned an entire test drive article into my PC, from the March 1972 issue of SS&DI. Sounds like YOUR car - Yellow, rear spoiler, 400 4 speed, etc. I wonder . . .???

Some of the pages are too large to be posted here, but send me an e-mail address and I'll shoot it to you. My office e-mail is: bellauto@birch.net ,
and here at home it's: lcoulson@houston.rr.com

Here is a link to ONE page I posted here:

http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...11&m=281104867

Neat stuff - I'm gonna be scanning in a BUNCH of old magazine articles and need some server space to post 'em. Who can help me out???

TIA!

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the eyes, Bob!

The scans are on my home PC. I sent myself a reminder e-mail to the house so I can remember to send 'em to you!

Will send 'em as soon as I can!

Hey, could this have been YOUR LeMans GT in the magazine test??? Sure sounds very similar!
