Hey all. I've run into an issue with swapping to a 12 bolt rear from a '70 Formula into my '81 T/A. The most obvious to me was the pinion yoke difference. Then after taking measurments it appeaers that the driveshaft may need to be about 1-1/8" longer. The id numbers on the 12 bolt are: C OS 0121G1. If anyone can answer definitively what yoke and driveshaft length I need it would be a great help. OH I'm running a th350 behind a 462. Thanks, Tommy

It would be easier to take your driveshaft in to a shop that makes driveshafts, they can measure your length, use your th350 yolk and they usually have what else you would need for the pinion flange and build a new driveshaft.

I put a 70 12 bolt into my 73 and had no problem, the ujoints should be the same and so should the driveshaft. Interesting problem sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks man. The yoke is definitely different on the 12 bolt. It looks like it takes a smaller u-joint. Also, I measured the distance from the front of the yoke to the center of the axles and the 12 bolt is about an inch and an eighth shorter, leading me to think I need a "bastard" u-joint or have my driveshaft redone with a 12 bolt ujoint end and possibly even a longer one.

Yep. Big Moe's it is. The biggest problem is finding time to get by there Dave. How sad is that? 5 miles away and yet I cant get squeeze 30 minutes out of a day here lately to solve this.
