Ive been searching for the best wheel and tire combo for my stock 70 GTO. I figure 8 " ralley II's with a 4 1/2" backspace and with a 255/60-15 tire. I'm just curious if any other 70 GTO owners have gone with this setup? Thanks Mikey

I have 15x7 with 4.5 backspace and 235/60-15 tires. Tons of space in the rear. Little close to the fender lip in the front. I wouldnt want that extra inch to the outside in the front. Especially if you plan on running a 255 up there. I would reccomend the 15x7 4.5 bs in the front with a 235-60 -15. In the rear either a 15x8 with 4.5 or 5 bs with a 255-60-15. The slightly staggered sizes will look really good if you are not worried about rotating front to rear.

My 70 GTO has 15X7 Rally 2's with 255/60's and currently I have 14X7's on front with 225/70's. I'm working on a pair of 15X6's for the front. No rubbing issues in the front. The rears are as wide as you can go with a stock height without taking out the wheel opening chrome.

Kaptmikey, my money says that combo as you described will work great. It is very similar to mine, except I run 50 series tires (265 front, 295 rear).

Mike, thanks for the reply, I got the idea from your car.
I wrote to you earlier and I guess you we're to bust to reply. Just got the goat back with a new 3:42 chevelle rear-end and now I'm shopping wheels and tires. |

Goat Dr.,
Thanks for the input, Jegs is now doing combo wheel and tires, but once you order them , there yours. Just curious what ratio rear-end gears are you running? |

Matrix,
Thanks for the reply, and yes I was trying to run the same size tire front and back for the street. A tall tire for cruizin and a short drag radial for the digs on those rare occasions, capice! On the street its all about looks, so maybe your right, two different sizes could work $$$$$$$$$$$. Mikey Still searching |

Where did you write to me? I didn't see it, because I'm never to busy to talk GTO's!
