I don't know if they are the largest, but on my '68 I run a 295/50/15 in the rear and a 265/50/15 in the front. Those are on 15x10 rear and 15x8 front. Never an issue ...

Taht really looks sweet! (Not meaning to sounds like the losers on the Dodge Ram commercial) I assuming now that 265 50 15s would work all the around on 15x8s. Any rubbing issues on the front? Also do you happen to know the offset of the wheels?
Thanks!

I'd actually like to keep the same size all the way around and am thinking about going with the 265/50 15s or 255/50 15s if there aren't any clearnace issues. Any pictures would be appreciated.

A set of 265/50 would work all the way around on a 15x8 wheel. My 15x8 is a 4 1/2 inch backspace, from Wheel Vintiques. My car is also lowered 1 1/2 inches.
I have zero rubbing, but some have told me that is because all my suspension is new. But honestly, there is tons of room in that wheelwell, lock to lock. Mike M

Great info Mike, The closest thing I've had to a muscle car was my '84 Monte Carlo SS which I ran 265/50-15s on and I thought they looked great on that car with the Weld Racing ProStars.
Your goat is really off the hook!

Mike,
Are you using Bags in the back for those 295's? Did you mod the rear suspension? Tom |

No air bags on mine. It isn't really modified, it's just that the parts are new. I've seen from experience that a 30+ year old car with new suspension throughout will sit more predictably than an older car with many original parts.
The 12-bolt was shortened just a bit (by the previous owner). I'm not sure why unless it had something to do with the 4-wheel disk conversion. The inner wheelwells appear to be unmolested as well. Mike M

Thanks, my 295's stick out but I have a 66 lemans. I know it is a little different but my 295s poke out about 1/2 an inch on both sides and I do not have much frame clearance at all. Thanks for the info.

68GTOConv, how can I tell what the backspace is? I have 245's on a 15X8 rally II and the drivers side rub on hard left turns, it only happens on the drivers side, the passengers side is good, any ideas?

I think I saw an illustration in the Summit Racing catalog showing how to measure backspacing at one time. You might want to check it out. Are your 245s, 60 series?

I haven't done the math, but I think (assuming the same width) a 50 series is going to be more forgiving than a 60 series. My 265/50 fronts run on 15x8 with a 4 1/2 back space. Although they have never rubbed, I would guess a 60 series (also 265) would rub on a hard turn. That increased sidewall height is going to play a role sometime ...

You're right Mike, the 245/60x15 has a 26.6" dia while the 265/50x15 is 25.5" on at T/A radial according to the BF Goodrich site.
