I have just purchased a 72 LeMans Convertible that needs a new hood and trunk lid. I do not yet have this car home and have not had a good look at it. I may be able to get these parts from a hardtop. Are the convertible and hardtop hoods and truck lids the same?

The original hood had no scoops but the one I have seen has two small sccops. They both have the chrome bumpers. What hoods did the LeMans come with? The only identifier I noticed on my car is a 350 on the rocker panel stainless.

Convertible and Hardtop hoods, fenders and trunk lids are the same. There were 2 hoods available for your 72. The standard hood and the GTO option hood that was longer and included 2 rather wide air scoops in the front. They are not interchangeable without also changing the bumper and the fenders.

The Lemans Sport model had Sport badges on
the front fenders. The hoods and Trunk lids
interchange from 2dr ht. I also have a 72 Lemans Sport Conv.
