The winner is Will. I just spent 4 hours at the wheel & tire shop. After countless measurements and trial fitments, a 1973 Transam with a stock rear end and wheel wells will fit a 17" diameter wheel, 9.5", with a 5" backspacing. I'm, using a 285/40 tire with these wheels in front and back for my corner carver.

Wheels are Torque Thruster II's with custom backspacing. They are on order. I'll post pic's when they come in. American Racing says 4-8 weeks.
