Default YH CODE '70 block

Hi, was wonder the application of a block I have a YH 455, 1970. belong to a GP originally?? thanks!

Bruce, that's the "base" 1970 455. Would have came with #15 heads. Was not available in the Grand Prix or GTO. Was available in full size only (Bonneville, Catalina, etc...) The one you have will be a 2 bolt main block, but drilled for 4 bolt.



The GP 455 was coded XF with #64 heads and was a 4 bolt main block with 4 bolt caps.


The GTO was coded YA and WA with 64 heads and 4 bolt block.

You could also get the 455 XF/64 as optional in a full size.

SOME '70 YH coded 455's had factory 4 bolt caps. Gotta ck 'em.

Thanks GUYS!! yeah its a 4 bolt block, 2 bolt caps, just didnt want to use a block for a project if its belongs in someones muscle car!!, thxs again!

Anyone know which blocks could be had in a 70 Grand Prix?

1970 Grand Prix was available with these engines:

WX was a 350hp 400cid for a manual trans.
XH was a 350hp 400cid for autos
YB was a 265hp 400cid for autos (2bbl. carb. with 8.8:1 ratio)
WG 370hp 455 for a manual trans
XF 370hp 455 for an auto.

Does anybody know what a 1970 grandprix 455 engine is worth? It is a xf code with 64 heads complete carb to pan, motor is still in car with auto trans. Motor has been sitting for a lot of years and my guess it's seazed. It is in grandprix sj . Also does any body know if the rear dif would be 10 or 12 bolt posi from factory? I don't think the car has been touched as far as original. Car is in rough shape sitting on ground sinking ,but could be worth something ? thanks for reply's
