Holley 600 cfm or 750 cfm ????
Hi, I'm trying to determine which carb to buy. I am currently running an Olds 403 in a 79 Trans am. It has Performer RPM intake and 1 3/4 headers.
I may add a cam (.520 lift) and roller rockers. (still trying to convince my wife to part with $500) What do you think would be best? 600 or 750 cfm? I didn't see anything between them in the Summit catalog. Thanks for your help, Scott |

By the 3310 vacuum carb (750 cfm) with the electric choke and enjoy.

Scott; What's on the 403 right now? The reason I ask is that I recently sent a carb to Cliff Ruggles for a rebuild. (In case you're not familiar with Cliff; there's only about a few thousand guys that write into this forum, that will tell you that he's the god of gods, when it comes to carb. building.) Anyway, the carb. I sent him was taken off of my '73 TA with a 455 H.O. motor. When he got it, he informed me that it was off of a '78 Olds with a 403 motor, and that it was a carb. that he really liked. (Even said he one on his own car at the time.) Well, bottom line: If Cliff says it's good and really likes it; I really, really like it. Don't know if there is any difference between a '78 and a '79; but that shouldn't be too hard to find out! Good luck!
