Dammen8 – No, I have not described the engine in this post. Below is a summary. If I left anything out, let me know.

MR-1 Block, 3” mains, 4.25” bore
Crower billet crank, 4.25” stroke
Venolia dome pistons, about 12.6:1
E-Heads by Dave Bisschop, 342/248, average E/I = 78%
Comp Cams solid roller, 280/284 on a 108 LSA installed at 104
0.440 lobe lift, 0.700” net valve lift
1.65:1 shaft rockers
Crower Sportsman rods, 6.800” with 2.200" journals
Victor intake ported by Dave Bisschop
added 1” spacer (with a second one to try on the dyno)
C&S Specialties aerosol carburetor, 1100 Dominator

Ken - Good point, brain fa*t on my side. For the readers, this engine was originally built by Ken, but when we were freshening it up we ran into some problems with the block. The reciprocating assembly is basically the same as before.

I also updated the compression ratio. I remembered it at about 12.5:1. It is actually 12.576, so I updated the previous post to 12.6:1. Engineers, they are anal with numbers!

Jim, with revised input....

385 hp & 506 ft.lbs. Tq at 4000 rpm.
Peak Tq is 667 ft.lbs. at 5200 rpm and peak power is 729 HP at 6600 rpm. Your gaining on the 730 hp goal

(I took a guess and used 234 cc's for the heads intake runner volume, if I'm way off it should make some difference. Also a guess at the valve sizes, header primary diameter & valve lash)

My 482 cid combo (4.125 x 4.310) with 330-335 cfm/234cc heads and a 279/287 roller at the time made 689.7 HP at 6800 rpm and 612 ft.lbs.Tq at 5200 rpm on a known conservative dyno. But we had some small issues on the dyno that effected the results, once installed in the car the 140 mph at 3240 pounds race weight suggests it's closer to a 730 HP combo.

Steve - That should be pretty close as the estimate on my runner volume is 235 cc's.
Headers are 1 7/8" primaries, valves are 2.19/1.77, valve lash is 0.026" for a net valve lift of 0.700".

I am happy to see the 4000 RPM numbers as I will be challenged to get it hooked up with 29x11 tires. I will start with a 4000 converter and a Powerglide. If it hooks up well I can either go to a higher stall or go back to a T-400.

Narrow; 3000 rpm or less.
1500 would definitely qualify.
Thanks

OMT - I'm curious, why did you choose the 4.25 bore over the 4.35 that most people run in their aftermarket blocks?

Because I already had the reciprocating assembly. I had to change the original block, but I didn't want to start all over again.

Interesting combo Jim. You don't miss the bases! I'm am curious though why the 1-7/8" headers and something in the 2" + range.

I would like 2" headers, but I already have 1 7/8" on my 400. I will start out with them to save some money.
