Default 2861.6 miles and 16.111 MPG

I am finally getting caught up from the Power Tour Long Haul and found I got 16.111 MPG for the total trip. Not bad for a 75 T/A with 3.73 gears along with a 5 speed TKO. The engine is a 400 bored 30 over along with e-heads, Performer RPM intake with a Blocker cold air system along with a Qudrajet built about four years ago by The Carb Shop. The cam is 230 ,230 @50 with 480, 480 lift with 1.5 rockers. The exhaust system has Dougs headers with a 2 1/2 pypes X system. I found my best mileage with the windows up and the AC on while driving the interstate sections of the trip at 70 to 80 MPH and got between 17 & 18 MPG. I also found running the same speeds on the interstate with the windows down and AC off cut the mileage to about 15.5 MPG. The worst single tank was 13.4 MPG while sitting in traffic at English Town for almost 40 minutes. Over all the trip went great for the first long trip since the almost 4 year rebuild of the car with no major parts falling off along the roadway.

Soooo, what was/is your Plug gap?

I side-gap to .040" for best results.

Congrats on a great combination!!! You couldn't ask for better gas mileage for a HP street rod with an engine built in the 70's. Good job!!!

My 75 T/A is silver with polished 15x8 Minilite wheels. The plugs are NGK gaped at .040 with a DUI HEI distributor curved by DUI to match my engine. The only problem with the engine I have is a rear main leak I will have to fix along with the installation of a aluminium radiator to keep the temperature in heavy traffic lower. As this was my first long trip in the car since the rebuild I was very pleased with the overall ride, performance and gas mileage.

I made the "Long Haul" with my brother in his 2000 Corvette. Can't believe I missed your TA. I sure missed not driving my 78 TA as I did in 04, but plan on taking it in 07! Are you in?

It is to early for me to think about 07 but the route is going through some country I have not seen yet. However I have always wanted to drive Route 66 and was thinking of doing that next year. My wife and I were walking around the parking lot a Etown waiting for the group picture gathering to begin and we could not believe all of the cars we had not seen the entire week before so I think it is very easy to miss a few cars on the tour.
