Default 1990 G.M.C. PICKUP

Not sure if this belongs here but my oilpressure gauge was reading less than 5 p.s.i. while in gear with brake on. Turned it off started 5 min later and the oilpressure went all the way to the max whether on load or not. Any ideas on the culprit? This is my daily driver and need to fix. The t/a doesnt like the 7 inches of snow on the ground so it is out of the question to drive it. will have to fix tonight and its 11 degrees outside. Any help would be appreciated.
