Default Second gen bird crossflow or not

Is there a big difference in flow between the Pypes crossflow exhaust and the dual muffler style for a 70-81 bird. I like the additional ground clearance from the crossflow but don't want to give up any power.

Are you talking about a stock 2 muffler setup, or a true dual 2 muffler setup? I've got a crossflow on my 75 TA and not having those 2 mufflers underneath gives me more clearance under the car and looks soooo much better tucked in under the car. Installed with headers & no cats... sounds mean as hell!

As far as flow goes, versus stock is a no brainer. I think 2 duals vs. crossflow would flow the same. I've seen the inside of the crossflow muffler, not much to it for resistance. Even if the crossflow was a tad under for flow, IMHO clearance makes up for it.

Literally no difference in flow. It is a true dual exhaust with just one housing for what is basically two separate mufflers.

Ccass, how loud is your crossflow? I had a Flowmaster crossflow in my 77 and didn't like it at all. Way too loud for me.

Way quiteter than the Flowmaster Crossflow. No comparison really. There are sound video's on the Pypes website. Listen to the 70 Yenko Nova especially. That car got the new quieter version of the Crossflow muffler.

I'llcheck out the Yenko. It wasn't there the last time I looked at the pypes site. The crossflow system seemed quieter than the Flowmaster in the clips, but I was concerned that it may be a different story live.

I hope the new design crossflow muffler sounds better than the original offered in the initial run of the system.
That yenko really sounds nice!

Critter, if you do give us some idle sounds. Most of the clips never let it sit at idle, always bliping the throttle before they drop the hammer.

The ground clearance with the crossflow system is nothing short of amazing!!!
