Which shroud are you using Jeff? A big block or a small block? They are different. Mine is a big block and my shroud is damaged. They are discountinued from GM. Will I need a Bb or SB shroud? Also, do you have a more of a side view photo that may show the fan/shroud better?
Thanks, Steve Barcak www.pontiacheaven.org "Real Pontiacs only.....no corporate nonsense!"

Steve, here's the pics. If I remember correctly it's a diesel shroud as that is what was in there before. But I didn't use the diesel radiator. The BB shroud would probably be your best bet since I think the BB is closer in length to a Pontiac.

Those lights on the roof look like a pair of nipples.
Not a bad looking truck though.

Was that hood ornament an option? I have seen a few GMC's that vintage, but never with the hood ornament.

Yes, the hood ornament was an option. My truck had one, but I chose not to put it back on when I painted the truck. It is pitted and needs replating. Still have it up in the garage attic.

Hydromatic slipping, 1500-2000? to rebuild . Unless you can find a good used one. I think Bill Hanlon was just looking for one for his truck.
If you didn't care about originality on the trans , adapter kits are available for th350/400. about 600? for the adapter kit.

Pontirag- Any plans for the GMC? I hope you've kept the engine 'alive' the last twenty years.

There are also many places selling dual chamber master cylinder kits, both with and without a 7" booster. Space is a little tight to mount the power unit under the floorboard in the stock position if you have a standard transmission because the cluth pedal linkage likes to live in that same space, but with an automatic there is plenty of room. I have a dual master cylinder kit on mine, but chose not to use a power unit. Pedal pressure is fine. Make sure you specify the type of brakes you are using, drum/drum, disk/drum or disk/disk. Mine is disk/drum. [/QUOTE] Quote:

v8 gmc
my name is dave roper. i reside in new zealand and have an original 1957 347 pontiac powered GMC, half ton truck. trans is a hydromatic. i was talking with steve from pontiac heaven and he sugested this site. i am looking to purchase the emblems on the guards and doors for this truck. dont seem to be able to get repros. any ideas guys.?
I also own a 1960 2 door bonneville. both vehicles were sourced from your country. New zealand has a large following of people keen on american cars. the same cars in the same era were imported from canada. they are right hand drive. the dash, gauges, and other minor details on the canadian cars are different than the same american models. best for now |

I recomend Oldgmctruck.com. Some real stand up guys there. Boy do they know their stuff.
Would be very curious to see throttle bracket arrangment on a right hand driver. You talkin about the actual "hydramatic" chrome badges on the fenders and the guards behind thedoor handles? Hydro chrome is hard to find. some low quality repro stuff was available a few years ago but dont think so now. The door guards are available just about every where. I like Classic Parts of America ar ClassicParts.com |

thanks for the info on parts for this truck. will try the sites you have put foward. the RHD thottles were a hassle after a few years. brackets were attached to the firewall. a linkage system connected thru these brackets and on to the carb. they got sloppy over time and most of us changed to a adapted thottle cable. we did seem to get some different engine combos from canada. it seems that whatever engine and trans available at the time were put in. mostly 283 chev but some "oddball" combos as well

Are you looking for the "Hydra-Matic" badge that mounts under the GMC badge on the fender? If so, I have ONE that is real nice, may be NOS. It is black background. Interested?
