HEI CONVERSION ???'s
ok, so i have a stock distributor, with a Pertronix Covnersion kit....
my question is, is my distributor now considered an HEI ? reason im asking is... i have the MSD blaster 2 coil, do i and can i still use it? also......do i need to buy "HEI" plug wires. is there a such thing as "HEI" plugs? im looking at these..... notice it says HEI does that mean i can or cant use them? , also what is RFI supression?? can anyone point me to the right direction. thanks. If you have the Pertronix II, Functionally it's similar to the HEI. I fyou have the Ignitor, that'st more of a points-replacement.
The Blaster II can probably be used with a Ignitor II to give you more spark energy, but if you have a Ignitor, you can still use the coil but you may need an additional external resistance. See the MSD instructions for the coil. Were you using the Blaster II with the original distributor? HEi plug wires have thicker insulation, are thicker overall, and have different distributor end terminals. A HEI has male terminals in the distributor whereas stock distributors have female terminals. RFI means Radio Frequency Interference. Most plug wires used on street cars have this type of plug wire because without it your engine ignition system creates all kinds of interference...like a lot of static in your radio. For a street car you definitely use wires with RFI suppression. Race only applications have non-RFI suppressed wires for maximum spark energy. George

yes i was using the blaster 2 with my stock distributor,
its a pertronix II as far as the extra resistance wire i have the curled wire which is resistance wire right? i also have the resistor that comes with the blaster 2 coil would that be enough? if i measure the voltage, what is it im looking for (this way i know if i need the resistor)

If you have the Ignitor II, you can use the Blaster II without the OEM resistor and without the added MSD resistor.
Check the install instructions for the Ignitor II on how to wire up the unit without the OEM resistance wire. George
