69 428HO
Anyone know which cam came in a 69 428HO 370HP with TH400 & factory air?
066 or 068? Looks like the Summit 2801 is a good choice for 3.23's and a stock converter. Car has Edelbrock Performer, Qjet, headers, 2.5" dual exhaust with xpipe and flowmasters. Also looking at the Comp CCA-51-220-4 or the CCA-51-221-4. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I'd run the Crower 60242 (221/229,.456"/.468"), in a 455 this cam pulls like a truck engine. In a 428 with a stock converter and 3.23 gears it would have good manners and still run very hard. to the PY forums.

FYI - There were 2 428 engines installed in Grand Prix's in '69 - the 370 HP (standard on SJ, optional on J), and the 390 HP High Output (optional on J and SJ).
Cam usage was as follows - 428-370 Auto - 066 428-370 Man - 067 428-390 HO Auto - 067 428-390 HO Man - 068 I'd use the 068 in any of those, unless you're going racing. It is still a good compromise between low-end torq and mid-high RPM breathing, and idles pretty smooth.
