Default Nice

Lookin good jimmy! Don't forget the jute backing on the trunk divider, that stuff makes a big difference. I also have the correct bolts to attach the front bumper to the brackets if you them. Good Luck!

Sonic
one of my pictures shows the divider between the trunk and the seat. Is this what you're talking about? Does mine look right?

Jimmy,
Car is looking great.
I think what Sonic is saying is that there should be jute backing between the cardboard divider and the metal trunk frame. The jute backing will be visible from the trunk. It will reduce noise from entering the interior from the trunk.

Default Yes but...

There is a jute padding, much like the rest of hte insulation under the package tray and behind the kick panels. It is glued to the backside of the divider, so when you look in the trunk you see the black panel not the insulation.

Jimmy, I am very jealous. You have a awsome Judge there. Hopefully I will be able to find a Liberty Judge one of these days. Keep up the good work and it looks great.

Kevin,

What is your source for installing the jute to the front (interior) side? I am by no means saying you are wrong. More curious as AMES says put the jute to the trunk side. Aesthetically from the trunk, yours makes sense; but functionally AMES makes sense, as the seat frame would slide on the cardboard vs. catch the jute on removal/install.
Thanks for your input.

Dave

That photo is of the inline tube car. I don't know if they had any trunk photos of the final build. On there website they have lots of good photos of the resto. Here is a photo of a 71 Lemans I parted out. The jute is facing the trunk not the rear seat in this case.

Roll on Jimmy. Looking good.

Did anyone else notice the 66 Chevelle in primer (with Jimmy's hood against it) - got finished - while Jimmy's Judge sat collecting dust ?

I'm gonna guess its an Automatic by the resonators.

The cars I have taken apart have had the jute on the inside. Also, as you say it looks much more appealing. I wouldn't think the factory wouldn't go through the trouble of using black board if it wasn't intended to be seen, just an idea.

Thanks to all you guys. I've gotten a lot of help off this site. Drivetrain is stock Ram Air III, automatic.

I ordered the trunk divider from Ames and it says jute backing toward trunk. My question is the divider didn't come with jute backing did it?? I may have to drive up to where the car is and look.
I remember it just being a cardboard divider?

Looked at the Judge I just purchased, can see the jute from the trunk. Haven't taken the back seat out to see if the panel is present. Also don't know if it's been taken apart before.

I guess my theory is that the jute is what deadens the sound so it goes to the trunk side with the panel "sealing" it.
