Default All Pontiac Front Plate/ Rad Hose

What's the trick or uber-secret part number to get the lower radiator hose to fit around the plate and actually connect the radiator to the timing cover?

I borrowed several that appeared they might work from my local Napa, found one that almost works after cutting it down but it appears it will try to collapse under pressure.

Little Help?

We use a 22 inch flex hose on the last job. We got it from NAPA. It is one of those Radiator hoses that have ridges that allow it to bend a 90 deg. or any angle.

If needed I will get a part number and post it here.

Make sure that the back side of the plate has a radius to keep from cutting the hose.

We welded a #16 AN bung to the timing cover with a slightly rearward angle to get more room and used braided hose to the radiator. For street you may want to go bigger than #16.

I tried some of those, but none that long. The longest was 19 inches. I have a 24 on my upper, I'll try it for the lower, I might have to notch the frame to get enough clearance under the plate and that will suck I really don't want to pull the motor to install a radiator hose, lol.

I used a 24" stainless hose with rubber ends I bought from Summit. You know....the kind al the Ricers use...LOL I cut it to fit and then bent it they way I needed it. My radiator has a wierd angle on lower hose bib making it interesting..
Think I used Summit part # SUM-390024....It's pricey ($42.00) but works...
Sorry I don't have a picture...
I want to get the "new style" plate as the offset should making hooking up lower hose easier..

I made up a 90degree elbow from steel tubing and used two pieces of radiator hose to connect to the radiator and water pump.

I also used a long flex hose (Napa). It has to be a good stlye that has rubber on both sides of the spring or the spring will jump ridges and collapse. I had a cheaper one on looked good till it warmed up and the wire jumped and it collapsed.... Back out with the fluid.

A little late but I found a pic of my lower hose with early AP front plate.
If the radiator had a "straight" hose connector it would have made things easier.
Radiator was in car when I purchased it years ago !!

Thanks for the pics. That looks like what I'll have to do.

I just bent a piece of 1/2" tubing the shape I needed. Went down to the Local Checker Auto parts store and went through all their hoses and found one that was the same shape as the 1/2" tube. Works great!!! I also put a smooth radius on the bottom of the motor plate so as not to wear into the hose.

Tough to tell from the pictures, any possibility in going over the top of the plate to the radiator?

If you look carefully you can see that I beveled/smoothed the plate where hose passes at the top to eleminate sharp edges.....
