Pink resistor wire?
I'm running with the Pertronix ignition system instead of points in my 68 Firebird. Does the pink resistor wire need to be replaced with another wire....and if so, which gauge wire should I use? Thanks in advance.

Do you disconnect the yellow wire from the starter as well? Is it okay to leave it connected to the coil?

All you want to do is bypass the section of resistance wire that drops the voltage.
you need the full 12VDC all the time to the Pertronix(while key is on) |

I guess I should ask this question again just to clarify the relay wire situation. Will the car start with the yellow relay wire removed from the coil? I talked to someone in the tech department at Pertronix and they told me to 86 the wire. Is this right?

I just did mine, infact Year one sells it (for $10.00)as I'm sure others here is the link. It includes the male connector to plug into the gang plug at the firewall.
http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/f...ain2.asp?cat=4 I left my yellow wire and joined the two together, it starts and runs fine. I would think you have to leave the yellow wire to give power to the starter. I wouldn't see why you need it going up to the coil if you spliced it in somewhere else in the pink wire... |

Thanks for the help guys. I removed the yellow wire from the coil and taped it up. I ran a 12 gauge wire to the coil from the fuse box ign. terminal. I'm going to see if the car starts tomorrow.
