Default Trunk Mount Battery

Hey Guys
I want to mount my battery in the trunk of 72 Grand Prix. What gauge wire should I use? Also are there any negatives about using the "optima" batteries?
Regards
Mark

I'm using the Optima Red battery and love it. Battery is in the trunk and I used 0/1 guage hot lead and for the ground. Works great.
