Yes that looks like a sweet 64 vert. Here's a 66 2+2 that's got a great color combo, and while i'm not too crazy about vinyl roof cars, it really makes this car stand out with the blk interior and silver paint.

Another thing that doesn't work for me on most darksiders are raised white letter tires. IMHO raised letters look out of place and distract the eye from those beautiful wheels. Envision either a narrow whitewall or just blackwalls on that silver 2+2, doesn't it just appear more refined and classy? They look fine on the smaller ponchos, but for some reason i prefer going with one of the other alternatives mentioned above.

Even redlines look nice here except they'd be considered technically incorrect as they were first used on production cars in 1967, at least that's my understanding...if someone knows differently, please feel free to correct me on this.

I'd like to hear from other darksiders on the white letter vs other style tires, what's your preference?

Actually redlines first came out on the 64 GTO! But they were never available from the factory on any of the big cars (that I'm aware of). I do agree with you however that they look great with the 8 lugs.

Here's my vote, in one of the brochures that comes with that 2+2 on ebay you can see an 8 lug with a redline on it. The 64' X-400 had some custom looking redlines, but what did it for me was the fellow i bought my 8 lugs from about 15 miles from me, he has 5 or 6 mint, 2+2's and they all look fantastic with radial redlines, only problem is no one makes them very tall, they all fall short of the 8.00 or something stock bias ply tires. I run the firestone 7.75 and they look and run excellent, but i wish they were a smidge taller. The reason i bought my particular car is because of this black 4spd that was for sale, looove that car. I checked out this ebay ad, looks like a really nice 2+2.

I am curious about one important detail, the seller went out of his way to describe it as a "376 HP, 421 HO" and the picture of the block shows a stamping of "YK" (which looks a little shaky). But if you look at the picture of the factory build sheet, it shows an engine code of "YJ" which is the 356 HP 421 tri power, not a 421 HO.

It looks like it has the HO exhaust manifolds, I assume these must have been added, if it is not an original 421 HO. And it looks like the engine may have been rebuilt, or at least repainted.

Not to sound too critical of a really nice looking 2+2, but it may be somewhat misrepresented.

Other opinions?

I agree. The build sheets and phs clearly indicate a YJ 356hp motor. Not the YK.
I asked the seller about the discrepencies. I will post the answer. If i recieve one.
The paint code W is Platinum. I have never seen that color before.
To me it appears to be a lighter shade of the Blue Mist slate. (my favorite )
VG is 3.23 posi?
Still a very very nice car.

I caught that discrepancy about the engine. Let us know what/if he replies.

Here is my old 65 convertible with redlines and 8 lugs. I got the tallest 14" that were available, 225/75x14 and they were still not quite tall enough for that big of a car.

There was a platinum 66 2+2 from PA that showed up at the 1988 POCI convention in Downingtown PA that took 1st place. It was an original 4 bbl car converted to 3x2. It was beautiful! It showed up at conventions for a few years and never came back.

Richard Cook from SC has one. It is platinum with a black vinyl top, a factory 3 speed car. I think he just got elected to the POCI board. He used to post on here.

His name is 63Redcat. He is a very impressive guy. I knew when I met him that the 05 POCI convention would be a sucess.

I'm a bit wary of the blue vert. the 8 lugs are wrong (Center caps) and the pix of the lower trim shows a large amount of rust under it. With that I would have to crawl under the car before I part with 10k

The '64 'vert has been for sale off and on for the past year or so. Sometimes even 2 adds from different sellers at the same time on ebay. I agree with black cat in that the 8 lug caps are incorrect, and there are some rust issues (although it doesn't appear to be too bad).

All in all, though, it does present itself very well, but I am a bit suspicious as to way it's been for sale for so long, and in CA and FL. It may be a scam.

Here is a couple of pics of 15 inch tires on 15 inch 8 lugs with thin white walls that I have saved on my computer. These were on a 65 reef turquoise Bonne vert that was advertised here about a year and a half ago. This is the look that I am after on my 66 Bonne vert that Ron is restoring.

That is a beautifull looking car. I think I may have to follow and add that combo to my 66

Wow, love that color, i'd say that's a perfect looking bonn. in every way. I think the thin whites fit that car better than anything else would, to me it depends very much on the color, for instance if the car is black, redlines make it pop like no other, but other colors can go either way. I even like the rally II's on the older big cars for a sportier look. Still waiting for somebody to create a set of 5x5 bolt hurst wheels.

The blue 64' still looks like a good car no matter how you shake it, not perfect, but still a good car, the seller isn't helping though, that's for sure, with all the hype and comments like "this catalina will not last long on the international market" ......so are the swedes buying all these up or am i missing something?

Any results from the supposed YK platinum 2+2 on ebay? Did anyone get a response??
