Default Roman Red Grand Am

This nice example came up on eBay:

Anyone know if it is the same one that was in Knoxville, TN two years ago? That one (also) had a black interior, which is unusual for a roman red GA. Most had matching red seats. The former one also had the very rare digital clock, which, I guess came with the factory tachometer in '78.
This one seems in better shape than the other one, but it says it has recent paint.

The dig clock was an option on all Pontiac Gs, as was the tach. If you ordered the dig clock and not order the tach you got a plain panel the same as the cars that had no regular clock.I would deduct $ for the spoiler. I'm pegging high bid at 2800.

I've never seen this car before. The one listed 2 years ago had buckets and a bad head gasket or cracked head. High bid was $1005 and it did not sell. Bad paint too.
It was in Knoxville though.
I had a 78 Roman Red and Platinum back in 78 and the only 78-80 I've ever seen while driving was in Knoxville this past March.
I'll go dig up some pictures, it may be this one.........with new paint.

The one I saw had buckets too....

Arrow No Reserve & one day left

I don't know what happened with that red one, but,,,
Here is a black '79 Grand Am on eBay which is going with NO RESERVE. It's only got one day left but I just found it.
Looks to be in decent shape, especially if the mileage is correct.

From the description, I don't think the seller knows a whole lot about these cars. Says it's got a 4.6 Litre engine??? I would guess that's supposed to be 4.9, but someone asked him about that, and he repeated himself. Maybe he doesn't know squat about cars in general. That being the case, a car guy could really take advantage of this deal.

Not sure why someone would open up with a $2500 bid on a no reserve auction though.
Could be a shill bidder, unless somebody close by has a Grand Am jones.

Seller seems a little put out about questions being asked.

Well, no one else bid, which makes me think the one and only bid was by an aquaintance of the seller. Maybe not though.
It would have been iffy with no personal inspection, but then again, maybe someone got a good deal on a low mileage, one of 4022 Grand Am.

I mapquested Dingmans Ferry, PA last night, AFTER I had posted this link.
I discovered that I had just drove right past that town on State Road 209, Sunday afternoon, on my way from New Hampshire to Indiana.
Had I discovered that listing just a few days earlier, while visiting my brother (and yeah, I was on the internet alot), I could have (and would have, if the seller cooperated) done a thorough inspection. That being for the benefit of anyone on this board.

Next time I take a road trip, I'll check the listings in advance.
