Air Cleaner Base Needed.....
for a 66 GTO Carter AFB. I need the flat one for the original pancake louvered lid so I can use the 1 1/2" filter. I have a drop base now than doesn't work all that great, and have to use a 3 inch filter which doesn't look so good.
This is the Carter AFB - Competition Series carb that was made by Weber. I have a base that's 4 1/4"s but it's too small for this carb. Not sure what the diameter is for one I have as the car isn't here right now. I'll have the car back from the shop Friday I hope and can measure it then. Possibly it needs a 5" hole base.

the small diameter is correct for the factory AFB carb. Since you are using the aftermarket AFB, you will need to measure the carb diameter. Sounds like you need the 67 Qjet base which is a bigger diameter, but you need to check your carb first to be sure.

Yep, and I can do that once I get her back from D. Miles' shop. I figured that might be the case Engineer for the Weber AFB. The engine being swapped out and a 67 400 is going in until I get the 389 rebuilt.

No need...
they are 5 1/8" like all other modern carbs. Just an FYI. Ron

Thanks Ron for that. D. Miles Jr. from here at PY confirmed it tonight... 5 1/8"s.
He just finished my GTO today and it's back running again. His dad and him are the best Pontiac guys around this neck of the woods.... IMHO He installed a 67 XX 400ci 325hp engine in it this week.

Found one, but it's the base from a Mr. Gasket aircleaner set. It'll do until I get the factory Carter AFB..... I have the aircleaner base for that already. Thanks for looking in.... TTFN.
