Default rim cleaner

I was wondering if anyone knew of something that could help my poor dull looking rims. I've tried scrubbing them and using some cleaner a friend of mine had but that didnt help too much. Any help would be appreciated!

At work I've seen the detailer's use Acid based cleaner's on rims. Also Simple green works well.
