76 T/a....dumb question, maybe?
This may be a dumb question but I just picked up a 76 TA with ignition keys only. I need to get in the trunk because I think the Super T10 is in there. What is the best/easiest/cheapest way to get in the truck without keys?
Thanks for you time! |

Remove the back seat....with the oil dip stick you can reach the lock mechanism. Figured that out in junk yard one day....There is always cool stuff in the trunk of a 2nd gen but the lock always gets the screwdriver treatment.

Or a really long screwdriver. Trunk shopping is always fun.

Take out the backseat, undo the trunk latch bolts with a 7/16 socket a bunch of long extensions and a ratchet... or chisel the trunk lock out with a hammer and a big screwdriver if you don't care about the car.

If you send to PHS and get the build sheet you will see on the bottom of the sheet two codes. Take this info to a pontiac dealer and if they still have the key punch machine you will get a new set of keys. That is why I have told people not to display the build sheets on the internet, less you are looking to watch your car drive away.

look in the glove box first for the button that pops open the trunk , should be mounted in the lower left side if it was equipped with one (my `75 is ) ,, if you dont find a button then remove the back seat and reach through with a jack handle or long screwdriver to open the lock from the inside like others have suggested , good luck !!
